The British Olympic Association (BOA) and the British Paralympic Association (BPA) has launched its youth engagement programme to inspire the nation to get active on Olympic Day.

Starting today, the celebrations for the organisations will span over five days for their Get Set campaign, including on Olympic Day itself on July 23.

With the United Kingdom still under lockdown measures, Team GB aims to give materials to families and school teachers to inspire young people to maintain healthy, active lifestyles.

Get Set was initially created as part of the London 2012 education programme, aiming to see a generation of people participate more in sport.

Part of Get Set's initiative, Travel to Tokyo, aims to encourage children and their families to try new activities in the run up to the Tokyo 2020 Games, now postponed to 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassadors for the programme include 400 metres runner Laviai Nielsen and former boxer, turned professional wrestler Anthony Ogogo, who have devised workouts for children to learn.

Olympic bronze medallist from London 2012 Ogogo said: "While the nation continues to operate under these unique circumstances it is so important that we find ways to remain fit, healthy and motivated.

"The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games may have been postponed by a year, but we can still take inspiration from everything that the Olympics stands for by promoting healthy well-being and the Olympic values to young people and demonstrate how these can be weaved into everyday life."

Having recently created an obstacle course for her toddler near the start of lockdown, former alpine ski racer Chemmy Alcott will be creating a brand new course for people to try at home.

Elsewhere Rio 2016 British taekwondo silver medallist Lutalo Muhammad will take part in the International Olympic Committee's first 24-hour Olympic workout with Olympians from across the world participating.
