This year's European Modern Pentathlon Championships in Hungary have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Competition was due to take place in Székesfehérvár from September 17 to 21.

The European Confederation for Modern Pentathlon Congress, scheduled to be held alongside the competition, has also been cancelled.

This is due to the ongoing travel restrictions and other limitations caused by the pandemic.

Székesfehérvár will instead host the event in 2022.

The 2021 edition of the competition will be held in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod.

The International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) Congress was also recently postponed due to the pandemic.

It will now be held in Xiamen in 2021, with Klaus Schormann set to now remain UIPM President until next year.
