The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is to hold its Congress virtually in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

August 15 has been confirmed as the date for the event, which was due to take place in The Netherlands originally.

The WFDF 2020 World Ultimate and Guts Championships - set to follow the Congress - could not go ahead because of the pandemic.

"WFDF, in a move to prevent delegates from any infection risk, has decided to hold its annual Congress by videoconference," said President Robert Rauch.

"This will have an additional advantage as all Federations can attend the occasion virtually, which might well result in the highest Congress attendance in WFDF’s history.

"We had a number of our members attend our 2019 Congress 2019 in Alataguse online so we feel quite confident that we can make this work without problems."

Plans for a how the sport will return are set to be discussed during the Congress.

WFDF has also been forced to cancel the 2020 World Junior Ultimate Championships and postpone the 2020 World Masters Ultimate Championships because of the pandemic.

The masters event is due to take place in Gold Coast in Australia, while Swedish city Malmö was supposed to be the venue for the junior tournament.
