The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has provisionally suspended Saudi Arabian athlete Mustafa Radha Al-Mulad after he failed a drugs test.

Al-Mulad returned an adverse analytical finding for both exogenous testosterone and anabolic androgenic steroids, the worldwide governing body said in a disclosure on its website.

"As a consequence, the athlete is provisionally suspended in view of a potential anti-doping rule violation," a statement added.

"In any case where it is determined that the athlete did not commit an anti-doping rule violation, the relevant decision will also be published.

"IWF will not make any further comments on the case until it is closed."

Al-Mulad competed at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon in South Korea, finishing ninth in the men's 94 kilograms class.

China's Liu Hao won the gold medal.
