International Sambo Federation (FIAS) chief executive Michal Buchel has welcomed the election of new members of the Bureau of the Consultative Committee of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) of the Council of Europe.

Buchel had served as vice-chair of the committee for the past four years.

The committee aims to promote the European Sports Charter, as well as Council of Europe projects and values within the sports movement.

International School Sport Federation representative Kolë Gjeloshaj has been confirmed as the chair of the committee, with the European Olympic Committee’s Tone Jagodic named as vice-chair.

James Ogilvie from UEFA, Janez Sodrznik from the Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA), Laura Capranica from the European Athlete Student Network and the European Network of Sport Education’s Louis Moustakas have all been named as committee members.

"The election of ISF as the chair is a commitment to ensure that the challenges of the organised sport movement and the specialised organisations are properly understood by the EPAS members and that the bridges and coordination between the members of the Consultative Committee (CC) and the different bodies and components of EPAS are strengthened," Buchel said.

"Also, to have EPAS members make full use of the expertise of the CC members and to set up processes ensuring that the voice of the organised sports movement is heard by the members of EPAS."

The Consultative Committee is composed of 25 organisations.
