The International Esports Federation (IESF) will now partner with Major Events International (MEI) to help find marketing and sponsorship partners for their Global Esports Executive Summit (GEES).

Currently without a scheduled date, the fifth edition of the GEES is set to be held both online and in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those in South Korea will be able to attend the event in Busan in November, but travel restrictions mean that foreigners will instead participate digitally.

This means only a limited number of key decision makers will attend the event in person, with the hybrid concept allowing more people to be involved online.

Now this partnership aims to help the GEES event flourish under its new format while remaining financially viable.

"We are very excited to partner with MEI to find the best possible marketing and sponsorship partners for our fifth Global Esports Executive Summit 2020," said the IESF President, Vlad Marinescu.

"MEI will support GEES revenues, allowing us to provide the esports market with a forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities which face this fast-moving and innovative branch of sports events."

The official venue for the Summit will be the brand new Busan Esports Stadium, which is currently under construction.

"This is a perfect fit for both parties," added MEI chief of operations Andy Rice.

"We are delighted to be working with the IESF to enhance their revenues.

"Organisations like the IESF are looking for technological innovation and sustainable solutions that will mitigate risk, minimise cost and maximise stakeholder engagement - and therefore revenues.

"Our partnership with IESF will undoubtedly provide new, and exciting solutions, and revenues for them."

Earlier this year, the IESF announced changes to its Esports World Championship that have seen the competition expand to include online preliminary stages.

The World Championship is scheduled to take place this year in Eilat in Israel, between December 6 and 12.
