Nine players will contest the 2020 eSailing World Championship final having emerged from a field of 820 during a four-day play-offs event.

Eight of the players came through three different challenges to book their place in the third eSailing World Championship final following the inaugural event in 2018.

On day one of the play-offs, competitors competed in the J70 class on the Auckland course in New Zealand, before taking to San Francisco on day two in the eF50 class – the virtual version of the high-speed catamaran used in the SailGP.

The final challenge for the eSailors came in the laser in Marseille on day three.

Five nations will be represented in the final including Spain which has three finalists – Joan Cardona, Cruzolator and "ramon732@541TOP".

France will have two representatives after "MCES valentinelisa" and "MCES pepitõ" qualified, while Croatia's "StipecoachCROATIA" and Turkey's Kaan Mazlumca will join them.

The final qualifier was Donnie Gillis from Britain, who joins one of his compatriots, Déjà Vu, who won the 2020 eSailGP title to automatically qualify for the final.

Only two of the eventual 2020 finalists were ranked in the top 10 prior to the play-offs, with defending champion Filippo Lanfranchi of Italy knocked out alongside bronze medallists from 2019 and 2018 – Luca Coslovich and Alessandro Merlino.

Two-time finalist LaMerNoire of France also did not make the cut.

Cardona, a professional Olympic class sailor, was runner-up in the eSailGP Championship, but sealed his spot after a strong day one in the J70.

"StipecoachCROATIA" qualified as the top racer with Gillies in second, but the Croatian only jumped up the order in the last few hours to secure his place.

"It was an exhausting three days with interesting races and fantastic opponents," said StipecoachCROATIA.

"I am proud to play with eight amazing players in the final, congratulations to all from the bottom of my heart."

The eSailing World Championship final is scheduled for November 7, with the eSailing Nations Cup also taking place on the same day to conclude the season.
