The International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF) has launched a new website section titled "Athlete Welfare".

The governing body said the section will feature new guidelines on the subject, which have been overseen by the IWRF’s chief medical officer Dr Kenneth Lee.

The first guidelines, focusing on hygiene and the infection MRSA, were released on October 6.

Autonomic dysreflexia protocol will be the subject of the second set of guidelines, which will be published on October 19.

Three further documents will be released in November.

This includes the guidelines on blood and bodily fluids on November 2 and the IWRF Concussion and Concussion Education Package on November 16.

Guidance on nutrition for the adaptive athlete will be published on November 30.

The IWRF said the new section of its website is an example of its commitment to being athlete-focused.

The governing body hopes the resources will help to protect all who participate in the sport.

Documents can be downloaded from their release date, with the IWRF saying the section page also links to relevant research materials.
