The colour system and core graphics for the 2022 Asian Games in the Chinese city of Hangzhou have been unveiled.

The core graphics draw inspiration from silk, one of the main cultural elements of Hangzhou.

Silk historically played a big role in connecting China with the rest of the continent, and these silk-inspired graphics will welcome Olympic Council of Asia members to the 2022 Asian Games.

Its design aims to represent a combination of traditional and modern styles

Entitled "harmony of colours," the Hangzhou 2022 colour system is dominated by "rainbow purple" and complemented by "glowing red", "mist white", "laurus yellow", "glimmering blue" and "lake and mountain green".

It is inspired by lines from one of China's most famous poets, Su Shi.

According to the Hangzhou 2022 organisers, the core graphics and colour system will be applied to a variety of scenarios.

This includes venue decoration, ceremonies, cultural activities, vehicles, uniforms, tickets and licensed products.

Organisers have also recently launched the first issue of the official Hangzhou 2022 journal.

Hangzhou 2022 is scheduled to run from September 10 to 25, with 40 sports on the programme and more than 10,000 athletes expected to compete.

China is due to host the Games for the first time since Guangzhou 2010.
