Paris 2024 has held its first Terre de Jeux Forum, billed as an opportunity for the Organising Committee to outline benefits available to areas which have been given the label.

Paris 2024 awards the "Terre de Jeux 2024" designation - which translates as "Playground 2024" - to local authorities who want to support organisers of the Games.

More than 1,000 cities, departments or regions have been given it to date.

The Organising Committee said that in excess of 800 communities took part in the event, which was held remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

France declared a public health state of emergency earlier this month.

Per L'Équipe, tools which will be made available when schools celebrate Olympic and Paralympic Week from February 1 to 6 were among the benefits discussed.

Terres de Jeux are also set to have an opportunity to nominate a Torchbearer for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay and win places in the mass-participation marathon set to be staged in Paris during the 2024 Games.

As well as turning the Terre de Jeux Forum into a virtual event, the coronavirus pandemic has had a profound impact on Paris 2024 preparations.

Cost-cutting measures announced so far have included swimming and volleyball venue changes.

Solideo - the state-owned company responsible for the construction of facilities for the Games - insists all projects remain on track despite pandemic-related disruptions.
