Hassane Sadok has been elected as President of the French Taekwondo Federation (FFTDA) for the next four years.

Former FFTDA President Denis Odjo had decided not to stand for re-election, having been in the role since 2015.

Members of the FFTDA met in Lyon while following strict COVID-19 protocol to vote in the Presidential election.

Sadok, who has spent 24 years involved in taekwondo and is President of the University of the Littoral Opal Coast, was running unopposed.

He received 3017 votes in favour and 157 against.

"I would like to pay tribute to Denis Odjo for his work and his commitment at the head of the FFTDA during these last five years," Sadok said.

"He piloted in the turmoil and showed us the reality of a mandate with all these issues on the ground."

France has enjoyed relative success in taekwondo, especially on the Olympic stage.

The country has claimed three silver medals and four bronzes at the Games, with Haby Niaré taking silver in the women's 67 kilogram contest at Rio 2016.
