Eliška Krupnová of the Czech Republic has been named the world's best female floorball player of the year, awarded by Swedish publication Innebandymagazinet.

The award, in its 14th year, was voted on by representatives from international floorball media and national team coaches.

Krupnová, a forward foe Pixbo Wallenstam IBK in Sweden, is the first Czech player to win the award.

"I'm totally shocked - I am happy, proud and honoured," said Krupnová.

"This is the biggest thing that has ever happened to me.

"I've really worked hard for this.

"I always work really hard, but for me everything has gone a little easier in 2020 than earlier in my career.

"It’s not easy to explain but I felt that not much could stop me.

"I hope my award motivates many girls and boys that it is possible for them as well.

"That it can happen to them and that they want to be in the same place in a few years."

The 27-year-old has played for the Czech Republic 103 times and has been named the Czech player of the year on four occasions.

She is also a Champions Cup winner, a title winner in Sweden and four-time domestic title holder in her home nation.

Krupnová was a member of the Pixbo Wallenstam team which won the Swedish Super League and the Champions Cup in 2016.

She has been recognised for her achievements as one of the best club and international players in the world as well as her work as a role model on and off the rink.

Finland's Veera Kauppi, the winner in 2017 and 2018, finished second on the list, while Ida Sundberg of Sweden was third.
