Russia’s Sofia Nadyrshina and Igor Sluev secured victories at the parallel giant slalom competition at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Cup in Scuol.

Nadyrshina led women’s qualification in the morning to secure the top seeding, which she justified throughout each of the rounds.

Victories over Austria’s Daniela Ulbing and Germany’s Melanie Hochreiter saw Nadyrshina advance to the semi-finals.

She finished 0.42 seconds clear of Switzerland’s Julie Zogg to set up a final against Germany’s Ramona Hofmeister, the current World Cup leader.

Nadyrshina completed a perfect day by beating Hofmeister by 0.15 to top the podium.

Zogg finished in third place after overcoming Austria’s Claudia Riegler in the small final.

The result keeps Hofmeister clear at the top of the discipline’s World Cup standings with 240 points, with fellow German Selina Joerg second on 180.

Sluev earned the second seeding in men’s qualification at the Swiss venue, but faced a tough task in the quarter-finals when he faced four-time world champion Benjamin Karl of Austria.

The Russian overcame the World Cup leader by 0.23 seconds in the quarter-final stage of the competition.

Sluev then overcame Germany’s Stefan Baumeister in the semi-finals, before triumphing in the big final ahead of Poland’s Michal Nowaczyk.

Slovenia’s Tim Mastnak claimed the final podium position, following victory over Baumeister in the small final.

Karl leads the discipline’s World Cup standings on 200 points, with Italy’s Roland Fischnaller and Austria’s Andreas Prommegger completing the top three on 164 and 161, respectively.

Sluev now lies fourth on 134 points.
