International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) general secretary Marius Vizer Jr has offered congratulations to the organisers of an event promoting the sport in Beijing.

Organised by the Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA) and Xueyuan Road Sub-District Office, it saw young players take part in exhibition teqball matches.

More than 300 people were in attendance last month, organisers say, including BODA deputy director Gao Yunchao, Zhang XinXin, a former player for the Chinese national football team and a BODA ambassador, and Oliver Joubert, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Hungarian Embassy in Beijing.

While FITEQ officials could not attend because of travel restrictions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it did donate teq tables to the China Agricultural University, the China University of Mining and Technology, the Beijing Forestry University and the Beijing Language and Culture University as part of the promotional event.

The FITEQ general secretary's message to organisers was: "Congratulations to all on the success of the promotional event in Beijing!

"Both the International Teqball Federation and the Beijing Olympic City Development Association share a love of sport and innovation.

"Our common values make our cooperation a natural fit and we believe that the BODA will continue to be an important part of the development of teqball in Beijing and throughout China in the years ahead."

BODA held a teqball exhibition during last September's Beijing Olympic City Sports Culture Festival after partnering with FITEQ, which marked the official launch of the sport in China's capital.

Teqball is set to make its Asian Beach Games debut at the next edition of the event, which Sanya on China's Hainan Island is due to host.
