Rodgers Kiprop topped an all-Kenyan podium in the men’s 5,000 metres T11/T12/T13 final at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Kiprop clinched victory in a time of 15min 37.82sec, finishing ahead of Benard Koskei, who clocked 14:58.61.

John Lokedi completed the top three in 15:03.52 ahead of fellow Kenyan Wilson Bii, who recorded a time of 15:58.20.

There was also a Kenyan podium sweep in the men’s 1500m T46 final, won by Felix Kipruto.

He crossed the finish line in 4:03.34 to earn gold ahead of Wesley Kimeli Sang in 4:04.43 and Stanley Kipkoech Misik in 4:05.92.

Moroccan Ayoub Sadni triumphed in the men’s 400m T46 in 48.83, beating Sri Lankan Saman Subasinghe, who clocked 50.54, and Puerto Rican Anssell Miranda Marinez, who crossed in 57.81.

That was one of 15 400m races that were held on a busy day.

Russian Andrei Vdovin, a 2019 world champion in the 100m, 200m and 400m, ran out victorious in the men’s 400m T37 in 53.13.

Sofiane Hamdi of Algeria came second in 54.72, with Mastafa Fathalla Mohammed of Egypt third in 55.59.

In the women’s 400m T37/T38 final, Katty Hurtado prevailed in 1min 05.64sec, defeating Tunisian Sonia Mansour in 1:07.41 and Japan’s Yuka Takamatsu in 1:07.87.

Paralympic champion Nantenin Keita of France clinched the women's 400m T13 crown in 59.52.

Simran Simran of India picked up silver after clocking 1:01.56 while Belarussian Aliaksandra Amialeshka finished in 1:06.74 to take bronze.

Hamide Dogangun bagged herself another medal as she topped an all-Turkish podium in the 400m wheelchair women’s T53/T54 final.

Dogangun clinched the title in 57.62 ahead of Zubeyde Supurgeci in 1:03.19 and Zeynep Acet in 1:07.09.

In the men's shot put wheelchair F55 final, Russia’s Zamir Shkakhov earned gold with a throw of 11.01 metres.

Mourad Bachir of Algeria was second with 10.91m and Azerbaijan’s Olokhan Musayev third with 10.65m.

The women’s shot put wheelchair F34 final was won by Morocco’s Saida Amoudi with 8.33m to overcome India’s Mahavr Bhagyashri Jadhav with 6.18m and Ansaf Alnuami of the United Arab Emirates with 6.03m.

Competition is scheduled to continue in Dubai tomorrow.
