Mirjam Fölmli is to succeed Reto Schorno as head of the host city department for the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade.

Fölmli is currently working as a senior project manager at Furrer Events and has gained extensive experience in the implementation of large-scale events during her career.

The 35-year-old has worked at Weltklasse Zürich, an athletics event which is part of the Wanda Diamond League season.

She was also involved in the planning and implementation of the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zürich.

Patrick Udvardi has also become a new addition to the team.

After leaving the University of Lucerne, Esther Müller will hand over the role of head of university projects for Lucerne 2021 to Udvardi.

Lucerne had been due to host the next edition of the Winter Universiade from January 21 to 31 but competition was pushed back to December 11 to 21 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 10 sporting disciplines are set to be contested at Lucerne 2021 with events due to be held across seven venues.
