Prades, a World Championships silver medallist and a former European individual champion, scored 1,479 points to top the podium at the Hungarian venue.

The Frenchman finished the competition four points clear of Britain's Thomas Toolis, who amassed 1,475.

The bronze medal went to Shuai Luo of China after he earned 1,471.

Prades, whose individual European triumph came at the same venue three years ago, clocked 10min 55.40sec in the laser run to seal victory.

"I feel very good," said Prades. 

"It's a nice competition and I love this event with the Olympic format - it's good preparation for Tokyo.

"It's my third victory in the World Cup final and it's good. 

"I had a terrible last shoot and Tom [Thomas Toolis] was fast, he was five or six seconds ahead of me but I'm a crazy boy and I said 'come on, you can do it'. 

"The last 50 metres was very hard."

Prades was beaten on the line at the 2018 World Championships and said today's triumph meant the "accident of Mexico is finished for me."

The World Cup final is due to conclude with the mixed relay race tomorrow.
