Hosts Scotland and Sweden secured automatic semi-final spots at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Scotland topped Group A finishing with an 8-1 record after beating Korea 9-1 and Hungary 7-4 on the final day of round robin play at Curl Aberdeen.

Sweden topped Group B as they finished unbeaten 9-0 thanks to wins over New Zealand 8-1 and Switzerland 7-5.

The second semi-final berths will go to the winners of the qualification games between the sides that finished second and third in both groups.

Canada, who finished second in Group A with a 7-2 record, following a 7-6 win over the Czech Republic and later a 11-6 victory over the Russian Curling Federation, will play Switzerland, who finished third in Group B with a 5-4 record, after beating Estonia 8-5 before losing to the Swedes by the same score.

Norway, who finished second in Group B with a 8-1 record, after an 8-7 victory over the United States and later an 11-5 win over Japan, will play Italy, who finished third in Group A with a 7-2 record, after beating the Russian Curling Federation 8-5 and later Korea 8-6.

At the same time as the qualification matches, two relegation games will also take place between the two sides that finished second and third bottom of both groups.

Japan, who ended third bottom of Group B with a record of three wins and six losses, will take on Korea, who ended second bottom of Group A with the same record.

The second relegation game sees third bottom of Group A Hungary, who ended with a 3-6 record, take on second bottom of Group B Finland, who ended with a record of two wins and seven losses.

The teams that finished bottom of each group - Spain, who ended Group A losing all nine of their matches, and Estonia, who ended Group B at 2-7, are both automatically relegated to the World Mixed Doubles qualification event, which is scheduled for early 2022.

Meanwhile, the six teams that reached the playoff stage of this Championship - Canada, Italy, Norway, Scotland, Sweden and Switzerland, have secure qualification for the mixed doubles curling competition at Beijing 2022 for their National Olympic Committee.

China have secured a further place as the host nation, with the two fourth placed teams in the groups, the Czech Republic and the United States, who finished with 5-4 records in Groups A and B respectively, facing off in a Beijing 2022 qualification game tomorrow at the same time as the first semi-final.
