Brazil, France and Japan all remain unbeaten after three matches in the 2021 men’s Volleyball Nations League competition at Rimini, Italy.

In the first match of the day France extended their record to three wins after overcoming Australia 28-26, 20-25, 25-14, 25-23.

Japan maintained their unbeaten record in dramatic style as they came from two sets to one down to beat Russia in a contest that went the distance, with the Japanese running out 28-26, 26-28, 20-25, 25-21, 16-14 winners.

Brazil were the third team to stay unbeaten as they overcame Canada 25-17, 25-20, 22-25, 27-25.

Brazil sit top of the standings with nine points, while France have eight points and Japan sit on seven, the same total as Russia who have two wins.

Poland, Slovenia, Germany, the US and Serbia also all have two wins to their name and all sit on six points.

Slovenia beat Poland in the day’s penultimate game winning 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23 to join their opponents on two wins.

Elsewhere, Germany came from behind to beat Bulgaria in five sets, winning 19-25, 25-21, 22-25, 30-28, 15-11.

The United States beat Argentina in four sets by a scoreline of 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-19.

In the final game of the day Serbia beat hosts Italy in four sets winning 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18.

The day’s other match saw Iran run out straight games winners against The Netherlands by a scoreline of 25-18, 25-23, 30-28.

The men now take a three day break with women’s matches set to resume tomorrow.

After the first batch of three games, Japan, the US and Turkey are all undefeated in the women’s competition.
