The United States and Turkey stayed unbeaten following the sixth day of matches in the women’s Volleyball Nations League in Italy, while Olympic champions China suffered their second defeat in as many days.

Turkey ran out comfortable winners against China beating the Olympic champions in straight sets 25-15, 25-23, 25-21.

The United States joined Turkey in staying unbeaten triumphing in similarly comfortable fashion against Thailand 25-17, 25-14, 25-16.

Behind the two unbeaten teams, Japan and Brazil both have five wins to their name, with Japan overcoming Russia 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 and Brazil overcoming hosts Italy in the final game of the day 19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19.

Behind Japan and Brazil, with four wins are the Netherlands who today overcame Serbia 25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 25-21.

Elsewhere, the opening game of the day saw Belgium beat South Korea in a contest that went the distance, with the Belgians victorious 23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 15-12.

Also on the final day of women’s action before a three-day break Canada beat Germany 30-28, 27-25, 25-14 while the Dominican Republic beat Poland 22-25, 25-22, 28-26, 25-21 and the Netherlands.

The US top the table with 18 points, with Turkey second on 16, Brazil in third on 15, Japan fourth on 14 and the Netherlands fifth on 13.

In the men’s league, which is scheduled to resume tomorrow, three teams are currently unbeaten - Brazil on nine points, France on eight and Japan on seven, with Brazil and France set to meet in the fourth game of the day.
