Plans to hold the second part of this year’s International University Sports Federation (FISU) Volunteer Leaders Academy (FVLA) on site in Kazan have been scrapped because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The main session in the Russian city had been due to take place from September 8 to 10 following an online introduction on June 19 to 20.

FISU has announced that both sessions will take place virtually "given that current travel restrictions do not allow people to travel freely".

The virtual delivery will mark a repeat of what took place last year.

The FVLA is a unique educational event designed to give aspiring leaders a variety of lectures and seminars about international university sport and how to manage volunteer programmes to be able to apply them in their Continental or National University Sport Federations (NUSF).

FISU has invited those interested in participating in the online September session to contact their NUSF for more information and to register for the event.
