An inclusion group backed by the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) has launched a new website to coincide with the start of Pride Month.

The COC said the LGBTQI2S+ Sport Inclusion Task Force (SITF) website will support clubs at all levels in the country who want to make their organisations more equitable, diverse, and inclusive for those who identify as LGBTQI2S+.

The new website will serve as a "go-to hub for sport organisations, and the general public, looking for LGBTQI2S+ news, resources, speakers and consultants", the COC added.

"Making sport truly inclusive and accessible for all takes education, resources, expertise and concerted effort from all levels in the system," said COC chief executive and secretary general David Shoemaker.

"There has been a lot of progress made by many within our community to develop programmes, initiatives and resources to advance diversity, equity and inclusion.

"Having a centralised website to house these resources and best practices will go a long way in supporting sport organisations on their diversity, equity and inclusion journey."

The SITF was launched during the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

It is aimed at ending lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and two-spirit (LGBTQI2S+) bias in sport through education for and promotion of LGBTQI2S+ inclusion in Canadian sport.

"We celebrate the launch of a central hub that provides resources for all levels of sport organisations to take tangible steps toward inclusion of LGBTQI2S+ individuals," said Canadian Women & Sport chief executive Allison Sandmeyer-Graves.

"Sport that is inclusive of LGBTQI2S+ people is sport that is safer and welcoming for all individuals.

"We encourage all sport leaders to visit this website and make full use of the resources and tools offered."
