Spanish golfer Jon Rahm is set to make his return to the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Tour at the US Open after returning two negative COVID-19 tests.

Rahm was leading the Memorial Tournament by six strokes earlier this month before he was forced to pull out of the PGA Tour competition after testing positive for COVID-19.

The world number three has been medically cleared to compete at the US Open at Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego, which is set to start on Thursday (June 17).

Rahm had been quarantining until he returned two negative COVID-19 tests.

"After two negative tests in a 24 hour span and being cleared by health officials, it's time to get ready for the US Open, vamos!!" tweeted the Spaniard.

Rahm will now be able to practice ahead of the third major of the year.

The Spaniard will be aiming for his first major title after sharing fifth at the Masters in April and eighth in last month's PGA Championship.

His best finish at any major was joint third at the 2019 US Open.

Bryson DeChambeau is the reigning US Open champion.
