International Federation Icestocksport (IFI) President Christian Lindner has said he is "absolutely confident" efforts to reform the organisation will be "honoured" at next month’s International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session where it is set to be granted full recognition.

The IFI claims it has undergone "wider improvements of its rules and regulations" since it received provisional IOC recognition in June 2018.

The reason behind the reforms was based on the recommendations of the IOC in a bid to meet the criteria of the full recognition process, according to the IFI.

Last week, the IOC Executive Board put forward the IFI for full recognition which is set to be voted on at the IOC Session, scheduled to be held on July 20 and 21 in Japanese capital Tokyo.

"IFI is absolutely confident that the development of our federation in various fields, especially in the field of governance, will be honoured by the IOC Session in Tokyo as well," said Lindner.

"We thank the IOC, the Executive Board and the members of the IOC Sports Department for their leadership and support, and especially our member federations and the various volunteers, for their great enthusiasm and efforts, working for Icestocksport and its development every day."

IFI secretary general Silke Bernardi added: "We have continuously emphasised that the IOC recognition progress with its profound assessment of an International Federation in all fields helps to improve the federation tremendously.

"We are glad and satisfied that the IOC Executive Board has honoured these efforts with their decision."

The International Cheerleading Union, International Cheerleading Union, International Sambo Federation, World Association of Kickboxing Organisations and World Lacrosse have also been recommended for full recognition at the IOC Session.
