Athletes will make their return to World Championships action after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of last year's competition in Denmark.

The last World Championships race - the relay at the 2019 edition of the event in Norway - took place more than 600 days ago.

The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) said all athletes, coaches and volunteers had returned negative tests for COVID-19 as part of the pre-event protocols.

The IOF said participants were "now fully in the competition bubble and the final stages of preparations" for the Championships.

Action in the town of Doksy is set to get underway with qualification and the finals of the men's and women's sprints tomorrow.

Attention will turn to the sprint relay on Sunday (July 4), before middle-distance races are held on Tuesday (July 6).

Following a second rest day, the traditional relay is scheduled for Thursday (July 8) before the Championships conclude with the long-distance competition on Friday (July 9).
