Ireland's Denis Lynch and stallion Cristello claimed victory in today’s final class at the Berlin leg of the Global Champions Tour (GCT).

Lynch finished ahead of his compatriot Darragh Kenny and Vinci de Beaufour by half a second in a speedy jump-off to take the win in 36.47sec.

Third went to home rider Katrin Eckermann on Cala Mandia, finishing in front of compatriots Maximilian Weishaupt on Nexus and Marcus Ehning on A La Carte NRW.

Eckermann's time - 38.11sec - was some way off the Irish leaders' efforts.

"The horse has been in great form recently," Lynch said after his victory.

"To win here on Sunday is really great and I am delighted with him.

"It is a great class to win, Cristello is very impulsive, a real fighter and trier so we work well together."

Ten riders from 32 made the jump-off after clean rounds.

Austrian Max Kühner with Up Too Jacco Blue finished sixth, followed by The Netherlands' Leopold van Asten on VDL Groep Hutch and young Polish rider Andrzej Oplatek on Conthinder.

Jur Vrieling of The Netherlands with Fiumicino van de Kalevallei was ninth and Belgian Pieter DeVos on Jade V. Bisschop completed the top 10.

The next leg of the GCT is set to take place at Royal Hospital Chelsea in London from August 13 to 15.

The series has a new leader after this weekend, Spain's Sergio Moya.
