The 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup kicks off tomorrow in the Russian capital of Moscow as 16 countries are set to compete in the 11th edition of the tournament.

Group A will see hosts Russia, competing as Russian Football Union, the United States, Paraguay and Japan fighting for a place in the knockout stages with the top two qualifying.

Mozambique, Spain, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Tahiti meet in Group B with the African team down as huge underdogs as the team was ranked 79 places below any of the other teams at the time of the draw.

Meanwhile in Group C, five-times champions Brazil face Switzerland, El Salvador and Belarus in a pool they are expected to breeze through.

Reigning champions Portugal are set to launch their title defence on Friday (August 19) against Oman before playing Senegal and Uruguay.

The first game of the tournament will be contested between UAE and Tahiti at 3pm local time.

Every game will be played in the Luzhniki Beach Soccer Stadium in Moscow.

The 4,500-capacity stadium has been specially built over the past few weeks for the tournament and only opened recently.

The hosts have won the competition twice before, in 2011 and 2013.

This makes Russia the joint-second-most successful team alongside Portugal, who won the 2015 and 2019 editions.

The Brazilians' five titles put them clear ahead of the pack in terms of overall championships.

France is the only other team to have won the tournament in 2005.

Italy and Tahiti have both lost the final twice.
