The United States won the women's team title at the United World Wrestling (UWW) Junior World Championships in Ufa, courtesy of Kennedy Blades winning the under-72-kilogram final.

Blades - whose sister Korina also helped the US take the title with a bronze at 62kg - beat Germany's Lilly Schneider via fall just 17 seconds into the final.

With 25 points for Blades' gold medal, the Americans finished the women's freestyle team contest with 143 - nine more than second-place Russia and India, who came third with the same total as the Russians but no gold medals.

Indian wrestlers fell at the final hurdle in two weight categories today, costing the country a shot at the team crown.

Sanju Devi lost 10-0 to home athlete Alina Kasabieva of Russia in the 62kg final, while Moldova's Irina Ringaci overcame Bhateri 12-2 for 65kg gold.

Kazakhstan's Nilufar Raimova won a tight 57kg final against the Italian Aurora Russo 8-6, while Emma Malmgren from Sweden is the new under-20 world champion, defeating Moldova's Mihaela Samoil 7-4.

Russia have now finished second in two of the three team competitions at their home UWW Junior World Championships, after Iran won the men's freestyle title.

Greco-Roman competition began today, and Russia look on course to win the team crown in that discipline, however.

Three of tomorrow's five gold-medal bouts will feature home wrestlers - Adlan Amriev at 87kg, Islam Aliev at 77kg and Said Bukaev at 63kg.
