Amanda Lawrence of the Virgin Islands dominated the women’s 84-kilogram class with a sensational performance at the International Powerlifting Federation World Open Classic Championships in Halmstad.

No one could stand in Lawrence’s way as she produced a world-record total of 636.5kg to claim an emphatic victory in the Swedish city.

Her total was boosted by world-record scores of 243.5kg in squat and 260.6kg in deadlift, either side of a lift of 132.5kg in bench press.

It was the Virgin Islands' fourth gold medal in three days after the success of Russel Orhii, Jonathan Cayco and Chandler Babb.
