The HUF600 million (£1.4 million/$1.9 million/€1.7 million) facility will satisfy the "high demand" for tables across the world, it is claimed.

Funds of HUF282 million (£655,000/$900,000/€750,000) have been invested by the Hungarian Government, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs enjoying a strategic partnership with teqball.

In return, the factory will create 117 jobs and 200 tables will be donated to recipients including orphanages, schools and sports clubs.

The factory's opening was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic but it is now hoped that it will play a key part in boosting the popularity of the sport.

"The teqball table is multi-functional sports equipment which everyone can use and play on regardless of gender, age and skill level," said Gábor Borsányi, a co-founder of the sport and the President of the International Federation of Teqball.

"We believe that more and more people will use it all over the world.

"So having that in mind we must ensure that we provide the sufficient resources for this to happen.

"That is why this is an important milestone for us.

"We can be sure we will continue producing a quality product whilst satisfying the high demand for it."

István Palásthy, the factory director, added: "We hope that we will be here for many years to come and that we can keep expanding as far as production is concerned.

"Furthermore, we want to provide jobs to as many people as possible, and of course to sell many tables."
