Ukraine dominated the team awards at the Worlds International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Bench Press and Powerlifting Championships and IBSA European Bench Press and Powerlifting Championships by finishing top of all eight tables.

The events took place in the Georgian town of Bakuriani.

Oleksandr Chernobai proved to be the best lifter in the men's division at the Worlds IBSA Bench Press Championship after recording a Wilks score of 116.900 to take gold in the under-90kg category.

The Wilks formula is used to compare lifted weight in powerlifting between athletes of different bodyweight and gender.

The Ukrainian's leading score helped his country to amass 60 points in the team awards table, beating Russia and Egypt with 54 and 42 points respectively.

His compatriot Vasylysa Kosyreva was crowned champion in the women's competition with a score of 85.671 to edge out Russia's Tatiana Kononova's with 83.669.

Again, it was Ukraine and Russia atop the team awards, with 60 and 41 points respectively, while Turkey rounded out the podium on 38.

Kosyreva struck gold once more in the Worlds IBSA Powerlifting Championship, posting a score of 383.933.

The result was never in doubt as she blew away the competition.

Halyna Halinska of Ukraine was the closest competitor on 361.4876.

The Ukrainians took a maximum of 60 points once more while Turkey and Russia trailed behind in second and third respectively.

Roman Kurov continued the Ukrainian success in the men's competition with a mammoth 443.951 to annihilate his rivals.

His country topped the charts with 60 points, not without a challenge though as Russia finished on 54 while Egypt's 43 points secured third place.

Chernobai, Kosyreva and Kurov's results carried over to the European Bench Press and Powerlifting Championships to also crown the trio as continental champions.
