Medallists from the competition will directly qualify for the World Boccia Championships scheduled for August 2022 in Rio de Janeiro.

There will be 11 gold medals awarded at the tournament, featuring 70 players from nine countries.

Tokyo 2020 medallist Jeong Ho Won of South Korea started the tournament yesterday with a large victory in the opening men's BC3 pool game.

Yuk Wing Leung of Hong Kong, Thailand’s Pornchok Larpyen and Kazuki Takahashi from Japan also all claimed wins in the men's BC4 and BC3 pools too.

Thailand’s four-time Paralympic champion Watcharaphon Vongsa and compatriot Worawut Saengampa registered comfortable wins in their men's BC2 games, as did Tokyo 2020 champion Hidetaka Sugimura of Japan.

South Korean and 2018 Asian Para Games silver medallist SungJoon Jung and Hong Kong's John Loung made it to the last four in the men's BC1.

Singapore pair Yee Ting Jeralyn Tan and Juni Syafiqa Binte Jumat topped the pools in the women's BC1 to make it into the semi-finals.

Thailand has two in the women's BC3 semi-finals, with Ladamanee Kla-Han facing Hong Kong's Yuen Kei Ho and Somboon Chaipanich taking on South Korean Yejin Choi.

Individual competition continues tomorrow, before concluding on Wednesday (November 17).

Pairs and teams competitions follow on November 18 and 19.
