Japan's Yuma Kagiyama and Russia's Anna Shcherbakova both won their second events of the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating season with victories in the men's and women's competitions at the Internationaux de France in Grenoble.

After winning the at the Gran Premio d'Italia in Turin earlier this month, Kagiyama built an 11-point lead after the men's short programme at the Patinoire PoleSud yesterday.

A score of 185.77 points in the free skate helped him finish with an unassailable 286.41.

"I am really happy to win the second gold in my first Grand Prix season," Kagiyama said.

"The Grand Prix Final was part of my goals for this season and since it takes place in Japan, I really wanted to take part there and I am glad I make it."

Shun Sato earned a second Japanese place on the podium with a season's best 177.17 taking his total in France up to 264.99, moving him up two places after the free skate.

American Jason Brown scored 174.81 in the free skate and finished with 264.20 to place third.

World champion Shcherbakova added to her victory in Turin, although had to recover from a slip on the take-off for a planned quad Lutz early on during the free skate.

She posted 151.75, and 229.69 overall, to take gold.

Another Russian skater in Alena Kostornaia, the 2019 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final champion, notched a season's best 145.41 to add to her 76.44 from the short programme, comfortably taking second place at the Internationaux de France.

A personal best of 141.04 from Japan's Wakaba Higuchi helped her climb from sixth into the bronze-medal position with her total of 204.91.

Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France clinched victory for the hosts in an unchanged ice dance podium.

They scored 132.17 in the free dance, accumulating a total of 221.25.

Canada's Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier placed second with 203.16, while Russia's Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin took third with 200.29.

In the pairs event, Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii of Russia took gold with 216.96, while silver went to their compatriots Iuliia Artemeva and Mikhail Nazarychev on 205.15.

The United States' Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier leapfrogged Canada's Vanessa James and Eric Radford to round off the podium with 201.69.

The next leg of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating is the Rostelecom Cup in Sochi in Russia, scheduled to run from November 26 to 28, and is the last event before the finale in the Japanese city of Osaka from December 9 to 12.
