The double Olympic bronze medallist defeated Spain's Tania Castineira 13-0 in her semi-final bout at The Green Halls in the Saudi Arabian capital.

She will now meet Russia's twice European champion Kristina Adebaio in the over-73 kilograms final at the inaugural edition of the event.

Adebaio saw off Lorena Brandl of Germany 8-6 in her semi-final clash.

Two other weight categories were held on day one with Russia also qualifying a finalist in the under-46kg.

Anastasiia Artamanova won her semi-final in the golden point period against Michal Zrihen of Portugal.

She will now meet Mi-reu Kang for the title after the South Korean defeated Morocco's Soukaina Sahib 41-25.

In the under-62kg division, Caroline Santos of Brazil will lock horns with the Czech Republic's Petra Stolbova in the final.

Santos got the better of Germany's Anna-Lena Froemming in the last four, winning 20-3, while Stolbova edged out Iran's Kosar Asaseh 7-6.

The under-73kg, under-57kg and under-49kg divisions are set to begin tomorrow.

All of the finals will take place on Saturday (November 27).

World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue claimed that staging the event in Riyadh will help promote gender equality in the Middle East.
