In a battle of the two remaining unbeaten teams in the men's event at the World Curling Federation Olympic Qualification Event, it was Norway who got the better of Italy to remain top of the standings.

After beating Denmark 7-4 in the morning session, Norway returned to squeeze past Italy 5-4 in the evening session.

Elsewhere, the Czech Republic's two wins against South Korea, 14-6, and Japan, 11-6, moved them up to third, narrowly behind Italy.

In the morning session, Italy beat The Netherlands 7-6.

Denmark currently occupy the fourth spot, despite a shock 8-7 loss to South Korea, who had not won a match before this evening's session.

In the women's competition, the three emerging heavyweights all secured wins to move further clear in the standings.

Pyeongchang silver medallists South Korea, who had started slowly with a loss to Turkey, have now won five straight, including today's 10-5 victory over Estonia.

Japan, the 2018 Olympic bronze medallists, hammered Latvia, who had just one defeat beforehand, 9-1, while Scotland, another slow starter, defeated Germany 7-4.

Latvia remain third in the standings behind South Korea and Japan, but Scotland are hot on their heels in fourth, and with the pair facing off in tomorrow's evening session, a place in the top-four spots and the playoffs is very much up for grabs.
