Ruth Momanyi has joined World Wheelchair Rugby's (WWR) Audit and Risk Management Committee as an independent member.

Momanyi serves as an internal auditor for Kenya's Office of the Auditor-General, which examines the accounts of Government bodies in the country.

Momanyi also has experience as an external auditor for the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and Cooperatives in Kenya's state corporations and projects, and has worked in risk assessment and management.

"I am more than delighted to be part of the WWR family and I am looking forward to offering my services to the best of my ability," Momanyi said.

WWR's Audit and Risk Management Committee is responsible for advising the Board on financial matters and identifying and managing potential risks.

It meets at least twice a year, and members are able to serve up to three consecutive terms of four years.

Independent non-Board members are nominated by the Audit and Risk Management Committee, with the approval of the WWR Board.

The Committee's chair Jen Braem believes Momanyi will prove a vital asset.

"We are delighted to welcome Ruth to the ARMC and to utilise her risk assessment and management skills together with her enthusiasm to work with WWR," Braem commented.

WWR rebranded from the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation to celebrate 45 years of the sport during last year's Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
