Selection decisions were made during an online meeting of the organisation's Executive Committee, led by RPC Acting President Pavel Rozhkov.

Rozhkov is also the Chef de Mission for Beijing 2022.

Nordic skiers Nikolay Polukhin and Ekaterina Rumyantseva are two of the most successful members on the team, with three Paralympic gold medals each, while Alpine skier Alexey Bugaev also has three golds to his name.

"The approval has been granted and the RPC delegation for the Games in Beijing will include 71 athletes from 20 federal entities of our country," said Rozhkov, as reported by state-run news agency TASS.

"We have 33 athletes in cross-country skiing and biathlon competitions.

"Ten athletes will represent the team in Alpine skiing events and six athletes in snowboard events.

"We also have 17 athletes lined up for sledge hockey competitions and five for wheelchair curling."

The entire delegation is made up of 185 people including coaches, athlete support staff, specialists, medical and reserve staff.

Alpine skiers Daria Ishchenko and Ivan Vasiliev are the youngest participants, at 15, while 50-year-old snowboarder Vyacheslav Latyshev is the oldest.

The RPC was also awarded three additional quotas by the International Paralympic Committee in the re-allocation process, two in Alpine skiing and one in snowboard.

The Beijing 2022 Paralympics are set to take place from March 4 to 13.

It will be the second Winter Paralympic Games where Russian athletes are not allowed to participate under the country's name or national flag due to World Anti-Doping Agency sanctions imposed in response to a state-sponsored doping programme.

At Pyeongchang 2018, with the RPC suspended, some athletes from Russia were allowed to compete for a Neutral Paralympic Athletes team.
