Under the new format, scores from the boulder and lead rounds are combined, with 200 points the maximum.

Each of the four boulders in the first round is worth up to 25 points, with the lead route having a maximum score of 100.

There will also be a standalone speed competition at Paris 2024.

When sport climbing made its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, speed, lead and boulder were all combined into one medal event.

The new format's competitive debut is due to be a the multi-sport Munich 2022 European Championships later this year.
