Deltrap was pushed all the way by Hungary's Melinda Schönborn in the 500m final, but her time of 46.515sec was enough for gold.

Schönborn took silver in 46.567, with Slovakia's Tamara Tokarova 0.108 off the pace in third.

The gold medallist eased through her heat and quarter-final, and was then the fastest qualifier across the two semi-finals with her time of 46.070.

Hungary's 1,500m silver medallist Maja Dora Somodi was eliminated after finishing third in her quarter-final involving Deltrap.

In the boys' 500m, Tawan Thomas of France upgraded his bronze in the longer distance to a gold.

His 42.618 effort secured an impressive victory by 0.164 over Italy's Lorenzo Previtali, who clinched a second silver of the Winter EYOF.

Third place went to The Netherlands' Niels Bergsma in 42.956.

Alessandro Loreggia of Italy won the 1,500m yesterday, but was handed a penalty in the 500m final.

Thomas impressed throughout the competition as the fastest qualifier in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

In the 3,000m mixed relay semi-finals, The Netherlands and France were the top performers, advancing to the final in 4:20.612 and 4:20.710 respectively from heat two.

Italy and Poland went through from the first heat in 4:27.197 and 4:28.560 respectively.

Short track competition is due to conclude on Friday (March 25), with Deltrap having the opportunity to complete a clean sweep of golds in the 1,000m followed by the mixed relays finals.
