The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Football Committee has opened the bid process for the 2022 IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix.

The Committee has asked IBSA member organisations interested in hosting the event to complete the sanction application form by April 30.

This 2022 Grand Prix is part of the qualification process for the IBSA Blind Football World Championships, which will take place in Birmingham next August.

The event has been held in Tokyo every year, except in 2020, since its inception in 2018.

This announcement, therefore, offers the opportunity for the important competition to be held outside Japan for the first time ever.

Argentina won the Blind Football World Grand Prix title in Shinagawa in Japan last year.

Maximiliano Espinillo scored two goals in the final against Japan to finish the tournament with four wins and one draw.

Brazil are the reigning Paralympic champions while Argentina bagged silver and Morocco settled for bronze respectively at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
