Jiri Privratsky and Camille Jedrzejewski claimed their first individual gold medals at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

In the men’s 50 metres rifle three positions final, the gold medal match was won by 21-year-old Privratsky, who defeated Simon Claussen of Norway 16-10.

There was no bronze medal match in this discipline, although third place in the final elimination stage went to fellow Norwegian Jon-Hermann Hegg.

In the women’s 25m pistol, the gold medal went to 19-year-old Jedrzejewski who scored 32 points in the final.

This is a third medal for Jedrzejewski at this event following bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol and bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol.

Silver went to Doreen Vennekamp of Germany who scored 25 points, with bronze going to Sylvia Steiner of Austria with 17.

In fourth place was Tanyaporn Prucksakorn of Thailand with a score of 10 points.

Earlier there was a surprise at the elimination relay two stage of the competition, with Greece’s Anna Korakaki, yesterday’s top qualifier, only managing eight points and missing out on the medal matches.

Also today qualification took place to decide the line-up for the medal matches in the women’s 25m pistol team event.

Germany will face Thailand in the gold medal match, while Iran will face Brazil for bronze.

The qualification stage also took place for the women’s 50 metre rifle three positions event, with the top qualifier Jenny Stene of Norway with a score of 592 points.  

Finals are scheduled to take place tomorrow in the women’s 50m rifle three positions, women’s team pistol, men’s team 50m rifle three positions and women’s team 50m rifle three positions.
