Hosts Colombia earned three gold medals on the final day of the World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) Grand Prix in Nilo.

The three-day competition came to close in the Colombian town with Freddy Orrego, Shindy Gil and Deiber Arredondo achieving gold for the host nation.

There was a Colombian cleans sweep in the men’s 10 metres standing air rifle SH1 event as Orrego got the better of fellow countrymen Ricardo Gómez and Alexander López.

The mixed 50m rifle prone SH2 competition was won by another Colombian in Gil who proved too strong for compatriot Jerson Mejía and Brazil's Flavio Campos.

Despite missing out on gold, Mejía was pleased to come away from the WSPS Grand Prix with one silver and two bronze medals.

"It is satisfying to see that the work carried out bears fruit," said Mejía.

"Now the important thing is to continue and improve in all the aspects that we have failed on this occasion."

The other gold of the day was captured by Arredondo in the mixed 50m pistol SH1 event.

Colombia is set to stage the next edition of the Parapan American Games with capital Santiago playing host in November 2023.

"We are already finishing the open with good expectations, good results and very interesting projections with young athletes," said Colombian national coach César Tobón.

"I can glimpse a successful cycle.

"In Santiago 2023 and Paris 2024 we hope to make an excellent performance."
