German duo Christian Kukuk, riding Checker, and Philipp Weishaupt, riding Coby, completed the course in a combined time of 151.95 seconds in today’s second round on their way to victory.

The Eagles had three fences in hand on their rivals as they jumped last for the win and after Kukuk and Checker knocked down one fence on their round it put pressure on their fellow team members Weishaupt and Coby.

The pair rose to the occasion completing a clear round, enough to top the championship standings with 98 points.

Second on the day were Stockholm Hearts featuring Swedish rider Malin Baryard-Johnsson on H&M Indiana, Belgian Oliver Philippaerts on H&M Legend Of Love and Lillie Keenan of the United States onboard Argan De Beliard.   

The Stockholm Hearts were ninth after the first day and jumped up the rankings thanks to a clear round from Philippaerts and H&M Legend Of Love followed by a round featuring just a single rail fault from Baryard-Johnsson and H&M Indiana, giving them a combined time of 145.30 seconds.

Third place on the day went to the London Knights team featuring Japanese rider Mike Kawai onboard Goldwin and German Tobias Meyer, riding Greatest Boy-H.

Kawai and Goldwin were one of just three partnerships to complete two clear rounds, with Meyer and Greatest Boy-H finishing slightly slower than their rivals in the Stockholm Hearts team, with a combined time of 150.38 seconds.

Second in the championship standings behind the Berlin Eagles are the Hamburg Giants, who could only finish sixth on the day, with 84 points.

The Stockholm Hearts are now third in the overall standings following their second placed finish today.

In the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Madrid at the same venue, Sanne Thijssen of The Netherlands, riding Con Quidam RB, claimed the biggest win of her career as she triumphed in a 10-rider jump-off.

Thijssen and Con Quidam RB claimed victory after winning the jump-off in 39.15 seconds, with Thijssen describing Con Quidam RB as the "horse of a lifetime" following her victory.

There was a tie for second place, with Ireland's Darragh Kenny, riding VDL Cartello, and Brazilian Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, onboard VDL Edgar M, both stopping the clock on 39.91 seconds in the jump-off, as they shared silver.

Elsewhere in the jump-off three more riders enjoyed clear rounds.

Fourth place went to Germany's Katrin Eckermann, riding Cala Mandia in 40.91, fifth went to Britain's Jodie Hall McAteer on Salt'N Peppa in 41.66 and sixth went to Greece's Ioli Mytilineou onboard L'Artiste De Toxandra in 44.07.

The next leg of the Global Champions League is due to be held at Ramatuelle, St Tropez from May 19 to 21.
