Needing a win to move top of the four-team women's group, Australia defeated hosts Thailand 69-24 in the late game to leapfrog Japan and retain their undefeated record.

Japan finished second with an emphatic 85-21 thrashing of Iran. 

All teams are to face each other twice. 

Iran sit third just now, while Thailand recorded their fourth defeat in a row.

Conversely, Iran came out best in the men's group by beating Malaysia 82-36.

Their victory ensured they would finish in front of Australia and South Korea, who were also on nine points and picked up victories today.

South Korea defeated the hosts Thailand 72-42, while Australia won 20-0 by default over Japan, who had withdrawn from the tournament.

Australia finished second and South Korea were third.

Thailand finished ahead of Malaysia to finish fourth.

The top seeds are to face the three qualified teams for the quarter-finals from division two.

Top of that group was Iraq who had already guaranteed first today having played all of their games.

They are due to face South Korea in the knockout round.

Philippines ensured their spot in third in the group, beating the United Arab Emirates 55-43 to set up a match against Iran.

Saudi Arabia narrowly defeated Afghanistan 61-56 to take second in the group, eliminating their opponents in the process. 

That means Saudi Arabia are scheduled to play Australia, while Thailand face Malaysia. 

UAE and Afghanistan take each other on in a ninth-place playoff.
