Teams face each other twice in the four-team women's round robin, with Australia holding a one-point lead over Japan with one round of fixtures remaining.

Australia chalked up their fifth win from as many matches at the Sports Complex PSU Phuket with a comfortable 72-29 victory over Iran, while Japan hammered Thailand 82-20.

Australia beat Japan 63-47 on Monday (May 23), but with the team in second boasting a superior goal difference, the pair are set to face-off in a winner-takes-all match tomorrow.

Iran hold a one-point advantage over Thailand in the battle for third, but their superior goal difference means they would have to lose by 33 points to be leapfrogged by the host nation.

In the men's tournament, hosts Thailand eased into the semi-finals, where they are joined by South Korea, Iran and Australia.

Thailand and Malaysia placed fourth and fifth in Division One respectively en route to the playoff stage, and it was the host nation who came out on top 64-37 in the quarter-finals.

Pongsakorn Sripirom led the way by scoring 26 points for Thailand.

They are now set to face Iran tomorrow in the last four after the Division One pool winners thrashed the Philippines 86-29.

The Philippines finished third in Division Two and would ordinarily have missed out on the playoff stage, but they were the beneficiaries from Tokyo 2020 Paralympic silver medallists Japan's withdrawal due to COVID-19 cases in their squad.

The other semi-final is set to feature Australia and South Korea, who finished second and third respectively in the Division One round robin.

Australia cruised past Saudi Arabia 79-25, while South Korea saw off Iraq 64-35.

The men's tournament is due to run for one day longer than the women's, with the semi-finals scheduled for tomorrow and the medal matches for Saturday (May 28).
