Top women's seed Nouran Gohar and men's world number one Paul Coll made it into the final four of their respective tournaments on the first day of quarter-finals at the El Gouna International in Egypt.

In the opening match of the day at the El Gouna Conference and Cultural Centre, Egyptian Gohar defeated English sixth seed Sarah-Jane Perry in straight games 11-4, 11-5, 11-5 in 32 minutes.

New Zealand's Coll followed in the first men's contest of the evening, defeating home favourite and sixth seed Tarek Momen in three games as well, with the score finishing 11-4, 11-9, 11-7.

Egyptian Nour El Tayeb was in dominant form to book her spot in the semi-finals, only dropping nine points in her match against Belgium's Tinne Gilis, with the score finishing 11-1, 11-5, 11-3.

Finally, Egyptian third seed Mohamed ElShorbagy defeated his compatriot and eighth seed Fares Dessouky in 52 minutes, with the score finishing 11-7, 11-7, 11-8.
