New Zealand's Paul Coll has exited the Mauritius Open after the former world champion was shocked by Diego Elias in the semi-final matchup at the RM Club in Pamplemousses.

The Peruvian is set to play England's Mohamed El Shorbagy in the final following the world number three's victory over Tarek Momen.

Elias proved to be a dominant force versus Coll where he secured a straight games triumph.

The third seed pounced on Coll from the start, taking the first game 11-4.

Coll attempted to fight back and brought the second game to 8-8.

However, mistakes from the New Zealander at this stage of the match proved costly as Elias was handed the second game 11-8.

Elias eventually secured the third game with the same scoreline to succeed in the semi-final tie.

"I think I played one of the best matches I’ve ever played, so I’m supposed to be happy!," Elias said after the game.

"Paul’s had a long and very hard season, with lots of big matches, so I thought I had a big opportunity today.

"He was, I guess, tired mentally from the whole season, so I just didn’t want to let it go today and I’m very happy that I played like this.

"I’m working right now with a few people, I’ve had my dad since forever, Jonathon Power, Wael El Hindi.

"We just all talk and find a good plan for every match.

"Greg [Gaultier] has helped me a lot, he’s always here helping me and giving me all the advice he can.

"So I’m just very happy that I could win this and this is because of all of them."

El Shorbagy also produced a straight games victory.

The first of three games was fairly balanced with England's new number one winning 11-7.

The next was far more simpler for El Shorbagy, who strolled to a 11-4 triumph.

Nevertheless, Momen of Egypt fought hard to stay in the competition, forcing a a tiebreaker in the third game.

In the end, El Shorbagy was too strong, winning 14-12, to set up a final encounter against Elias.

The Mauritius Open is scheduled to conclude tomorrow.
