The pair triumphed against Rio 2016 individual gold medallist Diana Bacosi and her Italian compatriot Tammaro Cassandro, a two-time world gold medallist.

Llewellin and Hill added to their respective bronze and gold medals from yesterday's individual finals as they won 6-4 after five rounds.

The score was tied at 1-1 after the first as both Llewellin and Bacosi were off target once, while their team-mates shot perfect.

Hill and Cassandro were once again flawless in the second round but Llewellin also hit the target on all four attempts to capitalise on another miss from Bacosi, making the score 3-1.

Final-shot blunders from both Britons then gave the Italians a way back in as they equalised.

However, another perfect round from Hill pushed the British pair into another lead at 5-3.

The 25-year-old slipped up for a second time, however, in the final round but 100 per cent accuracy from Llewellin ensured that Britain's team secured a draw on the decider with Bacosi missing again, ending the final 6-4.

Bronze medals went to Jakub Tomeček and Barbora Šumová of the Czech Republic as they got the better of Rigina Meftakhetdinova and Niyaz Aghazada of Azerbaijan 7-3 in the first bronze-medal match.

Sweden's Stefan Nilsson and Victoria Larsson were victorious in the second bronze-medal match 6-2 against Greek shooters Emmanouela Katzouraki and Nikolaos Mavrommatis.

The European Shotgun Championships should conclude tomorrow with the men's and women's team skeet finals.

Italy currently lead the medal standings with nine gold medals, including junior competition, while Britain and the Czech Republic trail behind with four and three victories, respectively.
