The Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE) has been praised by the President of the Ecuadorian Archery Federation (FETA), Guillermo Quiroga, for helping the National Federation develop coaches through courses.

FETA had to apply via the COE to receive Olympic Solidarity funding for the courses, which the National Olympic Committee did.

"From World Archery, they told me that I first requested the event through the COE, I introduced myself, it was analysed, I made the proposal and we obtained the approval of Olympic Solidarity through the COE," said Quiroga.

"We had total acceptance, 18 people [participated] from nine countries.

"Excellent, extremely grateful to the COE.

"Archery this year had fairly strong activity, we had positive achievements, this is also an encouragement, the follow-up that it does is continuous and we want to do the best possible."

Ecuador is now preparing its archery team for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, with qualification still to come before the event.

Blanca Rodrigo is one of the country's hottest prospects having claimed the gold medal at the South American Youth Games, while 22-year-old Léster Ortegón won the men's recurve gold medal at the Bolivarian Games this year and placed ninth at the South American Games too.
