Las Vegas has been announced as the host of the 2023 US Open Taekwondo Championships.

The event will take place at the Westgate Resort and Casino between March 3 and 5 next year.

It will be a World Taekwondo G2-rated event which will also provide the opportunity to earn 20 US ranking points.

Competition will take place in the senior, youth and cadet categories, as well as "ultra" for athletes over 33 and "tigers" and "dragons" for children.

USA Taekwondo has a goal of its athletes "dominating" in time for their home Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

There are positive signs for the future after Anastasija Zolotic won Olympic gold aged 19 at Tokyo 2020 last year.

At last month's World Championships in Guadalajara in Mexico, 18-year-old Makayla Greenwood topped the podium.
